Connect Klaviyo to Scout and draft your first weekly client report
User guide · 10 minutes end-to-end
Scout is the Monday-morning report - written. This guide walks an agency through connecting a client’s Klaviyo account to Scout, syncing the last 90 days of campaign and flow data, and drafting a weekly client update through Claude that uses real Klaviyo metrics.
Before you start
- A Scout workspace at dashboard.askscout.app (sign-up creates one).
- Admin or owner access to your client’s Klaviyo account so you can approve the OAuth grant.
- At least one Klaviyo campaign sent in the last 90 days, so the first report has something to talk about.
Step 1 - Add the client in Scout
- Sign in at dashboard.askscout.app.
- From the Clients list, click Add client.
- Enter the client’s name and continue through the onboarding wizard:
- Scope - pick the services you run for this client. Include Email/CRM if you manage their Klaviyo.
- KPI - describe success in the client’s own words (e.g. “grow attributed email revenue without burning the list”). This shapes every future draft.
Step 2 - Connect Klaviyo via OAuth
- On the Integrations step of the wizard (or later from the client’s Integrations tab), click Connect next to Klaviyo.
- You’ll be redirected to Klaviyo’s OAuth screen. Sign in if you’re not already.
- Review the requested scopes - Scout requests only read access:
accounts:read,campaigns:read,flows:read,lists:read,metrics:read.- Scout never writes to Klaviyo - no campaign edits, no list mutations, no profile changes.
- Click Allow. You’ll land back in Scout with the Klaviyo card showing Connected.
Step 3 - Sync 90 days of history
After connect, Scout queues an initial sync automatically. For accounts with many campaigns this takes 1–2 minutes - the integration row shows a Syncing state during the run.
If the sync hasn’t started after a minute, click Sync all channels (90 days) at the top right of the Integrations tab. When it finishes you’ll see a count like “23 campaigns synced, 8 flows synced, 4 lists synced”.
Scout re-syncs every four hours from then on, so the data backing your reports stays fresh without you opening Klaviyo.
Step 4 - Set the agency voice (one-time)
This is the highest-leverage thing you can do in Scout. It’s a one-time setup per agency - every client benefits.
- Go to Settings → Agency voice.
- Paste 2–3 of your best past client reports as examples. Scout uses them as the structural and stylistic template for every future draft.
- Optionally set reporting focus (revenue-first, ROAS-first, full-funnel), tone, signature phrases, and forbidden phrases.
- Click Save voice.
The more representative the example reports, the less editing you’ll do on week-one drafts.
Step 5 - Draft the report through Claude
Scout exposes its data to Claude through an MCP (Model Context Protocol) endpoint. Once connected, drafting a report is a single prompt.
First-time Claude setup:
- In Scout, go to Settings → Connect to Claude.
- For Claude Web: click Connect to Claude, paste the URL into Claude’s integrations page, and approve the consent screen on Scout’s side.
- For Claude Desktop: generate an API key and add it to
claude_desktop_config.json.
Drafting:
- Open Claude. Type: “Draft the Monday report for [client name]”.
- Claude calls Scout’s tools, assembles the last week of Klaviyo + Shopify + Meta + GSC + GA4 data, applies your agency voice, and produces a draft in ~30 seconds.
- Read it. Edit directly in the Claude conversation. When you’re happy, type: “Save final”.
- To share: “Publish this report” generates a shareable link at askscout.app. “Send this report to the client” emails it to the contact in the client profile.
What Klaviyo data shows up in the report
- Campaign performance - sends, opens, clicks, attributed revenue, week-over-week deltas.
- Flow performance - top revenue-driving flows, opens/clicks, anomalies.
- List growth - net subscribers, growth rate vs the prior period.
- Email’s share of total revenue - when Shopify is also connected, Scout reconciles Klaviyo-attributed revenue against Shopify orders so the report doesn’t double-count.
Scout never invents numbers. If a metric isn’t available, Claude is instructed to say so rather than fabricate.
What happens next week
Scout keeps syncing every four hours. Next Monday, just ask Claude to draft the report again. It will use the same agency voice, reference what you flagged last week, apply any editing patterns it learned from your previous edits, and pull the latest numbers automatically. Drafts improve every week as Scout learns from your edits.
Disconnecting Klaviyo
From the client detail page → Integrations tab, click the Klaviyo row → Disconnect. The OAuth token is deleted from Scout immediately and no further syncs run. Synced history remains so prior reports still render. You can also revoke from inside Klaviyo (Account → Settings → Apps) - Scout handles either direction.
